I have a case that involve of river reserve and I understand that if the river go through the lot then we need to provide a reserve for the river. It is something like when we apply for sub-division or partition; we need to provide road reserve.
I read the National Land Code (NLC) 1965 under section 353, it stated that resurvey of land that having natural boundary such as river in my case but I could not find what is the allocation of the reserve.
Similar with NLC 1965 section 49, it also do not provide the provision of river reserve. Perhaps I should look into river enactment or can anybody help me from where I can get the information regarding river reserve provision.
There is a info stated that if the width of river is 20m then the reserve is one chain on both side from river bed. I do not how true of this fact and I need help from your all. Highly appreciated for you input.

Not all rivers need a reserve. Some are just earth drains. Check the gazette on which rivers are gazetted. Check to see if there's a name in the topo plan.
There is usually a guide by JPS on which river and how much reserve is necessary.
thanks for the information. :)
The Waters Act 1920, Section 14 implies a 50 feet reserve from any river bank, but the newer NLC 1965 grants powers to the State Authority to reserve 50m from river banks, edge of lakes (including dams) and any shoreline (high watermark of normal spring tide).
Thank you Ak7377. Where r u from?
sy student UTM ;)
tak pasti sy mnjawab soalan ke tak..
tp ape yg sy blaja la kn..
sg yg lebar, rizab besar n sg yg sempit, rizabnye kecil
50 ela = 2 1/2 rantai @ 2 1/4 rantai
so 100 ela = 30m (lbih kurg)
* nak sediakan lebar rizab sg, kte gunakan kaedah konvolusi iaitu kriteria "titik sempit" or "narrowest points"
Terima kasih student UTM.
Saya pun ex-UTM...mari kita sama-sama belajar.
Boleh saya tahu di mana saudara/saudari dapat information 50 or 100 ela?
